HEIC to JPG Online
Only Safari can open HEIC, so this file has to be converted on the server. It lives for exactly one request: processed in memory, never written to disk and gone once the response is sent. Metadata, including geolocation, is stripped.
About the tool: converting HEIC to JPG
An iPhone saves its shots in the HEIC format. It is twice as economical as JPG, but outside the Apple ecosystem almost nothing understands it: Windows shows a grey square, a bank rejects the scan, a web form refuses the file, and the person you emailed sees an attachment that will not open. This tool turns such a file into an ordinary JPG. There are no third-party ads and no sign-up.
This is the only tool in the section that runs on the server, and the reason is technical: only Safari can decode HEIC, so doing it in the browser is simply impossible. The file lives for exactly one request — it is processed in memory, never written to disk and gone once the response is sent. Metadata, including the shooting coordinates, is stripped.

What do the settings mean?
1. Format
JPG: the whole point of the exercise. It opens anywhere: on Windows, in a messenger, on a government portal, on an old printer.
WebP: weighs less than JPG at the same quality, but again it is a format not everything understands. Pick it when the file goes to a website rather than to an institution.
2. Quality
The default is 85% — slightly higher than in ordinary compression, because what happens here is re-encoding from one lossy format into another. Over-saving at this step shows up more than it does when simply compressing a JPG.
3. Longest side
It caps the larger side, the smaller one is recalculated automatically. An iPhone shoots 4032 px on the long side, and for an email or a form that is excessive: 1920 px looks the same and weighs several times less.
Why does an iPhone shoot in HEIC at all?
The format was not chosen by accident: at equal quality HEIC weighs roughly half of a JPG, holds a wider brightness range and can store several frames in one file. The only problem is compatibility — outside Apple its support is still incomplete.
If you have to convert often, it is easier to turn the format off on the phone itself: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible. The iPhone will start shooting straight to JPG. There is a price — roughly twice the file size on the phone.
What to know about the result
The file gets heavier: that is normal. HEIC is more efficient, so the same frame as a JPG is almost always bigger. If weight is critical, reduce the longest side.
The shooting date is not carried over: it goes together with all the other metadata. This is a deliberate trade-off in favour of privacy — the metadata holds the coordinates of the place where you took the picture.
Re-encoding is irreversible: HEIC is already lossy, and JPG adds losses of its own. So convert from the original and do not run the file through twice.
